Operation Appreciation

Our objective is to directly benefit and recognize the many Water and Wastewater Operators, along with utility staff and first responders, who have worked tirelessly before, during, and after Hurricane Harvey. We hope to positively impact the men and women who are working around the clock to provide the essential services needed to begin the recovery and restoration process.

"Celebrating Ninety-Nine Years of Educational Excellence"
Spring 2017

The 99th Annual School was a great success. Attendance numbers were just over (520 students) in the classrooms, and (80 vendors) the exhibit hall looked great. Comments from the vendors and students were positive, and the decision to host our Annual Event in Corpus Christi through 2022 appears to be an excellent choice. Corpus is just a great place to have a convention and TWUA is adjusting the conference each year, and we think we are very close to finalizing a winning combination. To all those who were a part of the 99th Annual School, thank you for your support and participation. To all those who received awards, congratulations on your accomplishments.

We are very pleased to welcome Mr. Chad Jameson into the President’s role for TWUA. Chad is in the Austin area, and I know he will do a great job. He is looking forward to meeting those of you in the various regions. I have no doubt that he will welcome your thoughts, input, and feedback.

I would also like to welcome John Krause from the New Braunfels area of the state. John is coming on the management committee as Vice President. John has serves as President of the Armadillo District and active with the Southwest Texas Region. We look forward to working with John and taking advantage of his knowledge.

There has been much discussion and interest in the upcoming TWUA 100- Year Celebration.  Cece White is chair of the committee that will be responsible for the planning and execution of the 100 year birthday.  If you would like to be a part of the planning or would like to assist with this committee, please contact Cece White, I know she appreciates the assistance.  Please submit any suggestions for this event by email to: This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. TWUA will soon be offering computer based online training in a User Paced mode. Meaning that training will be available 24/7 and 365 days a year. Thank you for your patience and we are excited about getting this portion of computer based training up and running. Be looking for the announcement.

This year is off to a very busy start with outstanding opportunities for Operator Training. We sincerely want to thank you for using TWUA and considering the association for your training needs. The TWUA website will always have the most up to date version of the associations training opportunities. The Regional Training Events need your continued support, and again dates and locations can be obtained at and click on the training tab. The dates for the Regional Conference are June 15th & 16th 2017. The dates for the Mid-Year Board Meeting are September 6th & 7th, 2017. Both of these events will be held at the Doubletree – 6505 N.IH-35 (Between the two Pappas) Austin.

As you plan for your 2018 budgets, please remember that TWUA Annual School is scheduled for March 4th – March 7st 2018, in Corpus Christi. This will be our 100th Annual School, and we would sincerely appreciate your support and attendance. If you need any additional information or assistance regarding Annual School, please do not hesitate to contact Central Office (512)459-3124 or (888)367-8982.

If you have looked at the Regional opportunities and have difficulty locating a specific class; please contact David Moore, he will be happy to work with you to get training scheduled in your area.

I would like to continue to encourage you to attend the monthly district meetings in your area. These meetings is an excellent source for renewal hours; contacts and peer to peer time is a great way to discuss issues and gather information. If it has been awhile since you last attended, I urge you to contact your district or Central Office and we will be happy to provide any information that you might need.

Central Office and our Management Committee would appreciate any feedback that you might have. If we are meeting your needs and you have no concerns, please let us know. If, on the other hand, there is an area that is causing concern or we are lacking, please share that with us, and if possible we will try and incorporate your input into our program.

Let us inspire you to be a positive leader in your workplace and the industry while striving to be the professional we all know you are.
