Unsung Heroes Movie Trailer

Unsung Heroes of the Water Profession – TWUA recently completed the remake of the association’s video (Every Minute). This remake demonstrates the treatment processes and job tasks performed daily by the Professional Operators across the state. The association feels this video would be ideal for presentations to schools, civic clubs, and governing boards.

V.M. Ehlers Foundation

The V. M. Ehlers Foundation, Inc. was organized in 1959 to honor and memorialize Mr. Victor M. Ehlers, who passed away on March 29, 1959 after a distinguished career in the water utilities profession. Mr. Ehlers, or "Vic" as he was known to his friends, was instrumental in the formation of what is now the largest organization of its type in the world - the Texas Water Utilities Association.

TWUA – 100-Years Strong

The 100th Annual School was a great success. Having the past presidents of TWUA in attendance to help celebrate the associations 100th Anniversary added to the traditions that we practice and cherish. Attendance numbers for Annual School were just over 500 students and 91 vendor booths or 241+ individual vendor representatives. Norma Clark and Tom Ezell volunteer and help the association take care of the vendor aspects of Annual School, and they do a great job, and our thanks go to them. The exhibit hall looked great, and we received great feedback from all participants. Corpus is a great partner and great place to hold our Annual Convention. To all those who were a part of the 100th Annual School, thank you for your support and participation. To all those who received awards, congratulations on your accomplishments. To all the instructors and volunteers who assisted – thank you.

We are very pleased to welcome Mr. George Glispin into the President’s role. George lives in Boerne and is the Ford Meter Box Co. representative for South Texas. George is a great supporter of TWUA, and we know he will do a great job.

I would also like to welcome Bill Brown, General Manager of Jonah Water SUD in Hutto. Bill is coming on the management committee as Vice President. We look forward to working with Bill and taking advantage of his knowledge and experience.

This year is off to a very busy start with outstanding opportunities for Operator Training. We sincerely want to thank you for using TWUA and considering the association for your training needs. The TWUA website will always have the most up to date version of the associations training opportunities. The Regional Training Events need your continued support, and again dates and locations can be obtained at www.twua.org and click on the training tab. The dates for the Regional Conference are June 21st & 22nd 2018. The dates for the Mid-Year Board Meeting are September 26th & 27th, 2018. Both of these events will be held at the Crown Plaza IH-35 & Hwy 290.

TCEQ Exam Applications. The exam application process has gone 100% electronic. Bubble forms and filling out applications onsite is no longer an option. The state needs a minimum of 30-days to review the application so please keep this in mind when you sign up for a TWUA Regional Training Event.

Be watching for the release of the association’s On-Demand or User Paced training very soon. This addition will add the ability for operators to received TCEQ approved operator training 24/7 and 365 days a year. This option will complement the Live Computer-based training that is currently available.

As you plan for your 2019 budgets, please remember that TWUA Annual School is scheduled for March 3rd – March 6th, 2019, in Corpus Christi. This will be our 101st Annual School, and we would sincerely appreciate your support and attendance. If you need any additional information or assistance regarding Annual School or being an exhibitor, please do not hesitate to contact Central Office (512)459-3124 or (888)367-8982.

If you have looked at the Regional opportunities and have difficulty locating a specific class; please contact David Moore, he will be happy to work with you to get training scheduled in your area.

I would like to continue to encourage you to attend the monthly district meetings in your area. These meetings are an excellent source for renewal hours; contacts and peer to peer time is a great way to discuss issues and gather information. If it has been awhile since you last attended, I urge you to contact your district or Central Office, and we will be happy to provide any information that you might need.

Central Office and our Management Committee would appreciate any feedback that you might have. If we are meeting your needs and you have no concerns, please let us know. If, on the other hand, there is an area that is causing concern or we are lacking, please share that with us, and if possible we will try and incorporate your input into our program.

Let us inspire you to be a positive leader in your workplace and the industry while striving to be the professional we all know you are. I encourage you to obtain your TCEQ license or advance your current license. Never allow anyone to tell you that the test is too hard and you do not have the abilities. It all boils down to how bad do you want it and what efforts are you willing to put forth.
