The 102nd Annual School was a great success.  Attendance numbers for Annual School were just over 430 students and 90 vendor booths or 184 + individual vendor representatives. Norma Clark, Tom Ezell, and Larry Y’barbo volunteer and help the association take care of the vendor aspects of Annual School, and they do a great job. Our thanks go to them.  The exhibit hall looked great, and we received great feedback from all participants.  Corpus is a great partner and a great place to hold the Association’s Annual Convention.  To all those who were a part of the 102nd Annual School, thank you for your support and participation.  To all those who received awards, congratulations on your accomplishments.  To all the instructors and volunteers who assisted – thank you.

We are very pleased to welcome Mr. William L. (Bill) Brown into the President’s role.  Bill lives in Hutto and is employed by Jonah Water SUD.  Bill is a great supporter of TWUA, and we know he will do a great job.

I would also like to welcome Jim Siddall.  Jim has been very involved with the association over the years and is a Trustee and Treasurer for V. M. Ehlers.  Jim is coming on the management committee as Vice President.  We look forward to working with Jim and taking advantage of his knowledge and experience.

This year is off to a very busy start with outstanding opportunities for Operator Training. We sincerely want to thank you for supporting TWUA and considering the association for your operator training needs.  The TWUA website was recently updated and will always have the most up to date version of the associations training opportunities.  The Regional Training Events need your continued support, and again dates and locations can be obtained at www.twua.org and click on the training tab.

The dates for the Regional Conference are June 18th & 19th 2020.  The dates for the Mid-Year Board Meeting are September 16th & 17th 2020.  Both of these events will be held at the Courtyard (Marriott) in Pflugerville – Toll-130 & East Pecan.

As you plan for your 2021 budgets, please remember that TWUA Annual School is scheduled for February 28th – March 3rd 2021, in Corpus Christi. This will be our 103rd Annual School, and we would sincerely appreciate your support and attendance. If you need any additional information or assistance regarding Annual School or being an exhibitor, please do not hesitate to contact Central Office (512)459-3124 or (888)367-8982.

If you have searched the TWUA Training Calendar and are having difficulty locating a specific class; please contact David Moore, he will be happy to work with you to get training scheduled in your area.

TWUA Central Office is now located at 210 East Hwy. 79, Hutto Texas. (Old Town Professional Building) If you are in the area please feel free to stop by and say hello.

I would like to continue to encourage you to attend the monthly district meetings in your area. These meetings are an excellent source for renewal hours; contacts and peer to peer time is a great way to discuss issues and gather information. If it has been a while since you last attended, I urge you to contact your district or Central Office, and we will be happy to provide any information that you might need. Be watching our website and the journal for additional training opportunities referred to as Day Schools. This is an emerging concept where some districts are offering an 8-hour “Special Topics” style training which will be approved by TCEQ by Operator Renewal.

Central Office and our Management Committee would appreciate any feedback that you might have. If we are meeting your needs and you have no concerns, please let us know. If, on the other hand, there is an area that is causing concern or we are lacking, please share that with us, and if possible, we will try and incorporate your input into our program.

Let us inspire you to be a positive leader in your workplace and the industry while striving to be the professional we all know you are. I encourage you to obtain your TCEQ license or advance your current license. Never allow anyone to tell you that the test is too hard and you do not have the abilities. It all boils down to how bad do you want it and what efforts are you willing to put forth.
